Specification of Visual Instructional Design Languages Dedicated to Learning Management Systems
نویسندگان
چکیده
Despite of the growing development of learning technologies into education, designing learning scenarios and exploiting them for setting up a learning situation is still a complex task. Visual Instructional Design Languages (VIDL) and their dedicated graphical editors have been identified as important conceptual tools for achieving more creative design solutions within a design process. In this article we propose the application of Domain-Specific Modeling tools for specifying and developing VIDLs and editors dedicated to specific Learning Management Systems. An experimentation concerning the Moodle LMS is discussed.

Improving the design of courses thanks to graphical and external dedicated languages: a Moodle experimentation
Designing learning scenarios and exploiting them for setting up a learning situation on Moodle is still a complex task. Visual Instructional Design Languages and their dedicated graphical editors have been identified as important conceptual tools for achieving more creative design solutions within a design process. However, binding and operationalizing such learning models is not tackled for no...
متن کاملA Model-driven and External Approach for Learning Design upon Learning Management Systems
The research work presented is about helping teachers-designers in focusing on instructional design activities when using widely spread Learning Management System. We originally propose to focus on the implicit LMS pedagogical language and to exploit it outside of the LMS by well-suited instructional design tools. We concretely propose to follow a Domain Specific Modeling approach in order to f...
متن کاملA Visual Language-Based Tool for E-Learning Processes
absTracT One of the crucial activities in the development of e-learning courses concerns the design phase. In this phase, instructional designers define the e-learning processes by specifying the activities students should carry out (knowledge objects, assessment, practice, etc.) and their temporal sequence. This phase is usually performed using an iterative process, with step-by-step refinemen...
متن کاملInstructional Design, Implementation, and Evaluation of an E-Learning System, an Experience in Tehran University of Medical Sciences
Introduction: Designing e-learning systems based on the principles and prerequisites of teaching and learning theories requires a comprehensive and systematic approach to instructional design procedure. An experience of instructional design, implementation and evaluation of an e-learning system is represented in this study. Methods: In the present action research study, five steps of systemati...
متن کاملIdentification and Formalization of LMS Instructional Design Languages: Moodle Case Study
Many universities have adopted Learning Management Systems (LMSs) to offer teachers a range of pedagogical and administrative tools for supporting teaching and learning activities. However, many teachers have diffi‐ culty using these LMSs; they have to encompass the LMS technical features and services in order to understand the underlying way of designing. Despite the use of external editors, i...
